The Corn Refining Process or more than 150 years, corn refiners have been perfecting the process of separating corn into its component parts to create a myriad of value added products. The corn wet milling process separates corn into its four basic components: starch, germ, fiber, and protein. There are five basic steps to accomplish this process.
Pour the corn into a grain mill. Add the dry corn kernels to the open feeder on top of the mill. Make sure you don't fill the feeder too much, or else the kernels may spill out and scatter. Wait to add more until you begin cracking the corn. Grain mills are available online and at some supply stores that sell feed.

Corn flour tends to have less moisture at around 8-10%. To play it safe when packaging corn kernels or cornmeal with oxygen absorbers, only package it on low-humidity days. You might even want to dry it out a bit in the oven first (and then let it come to room temperature before packing).
